The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of a student's education records. As a general rule, the UW will not release records or information to a third party (including a parent or spouse) without a student's written consent. To allow staff to discuss the status of financial aid with a parent or another person, admitted students must complete the online Release of Information Form.

If a parent or third party wants to submit documents on behalf of the student, the student will initiate the Document Upload – Parent/Third Party link to allow them to do so.
Disbursements
Financial aid generally begins disbursing the week prior to the first day of the quarter.
Cost of Attendance
Your student cost of attendance is the amount of money we estimate you will need for tuition, books, and living expenses.
Emergency Aid
The Emergency Aid Program assists UW students by providing financial support when assistance is needed with unexpected, unavoidable, and unplanned expenses surrounding situations such as accidents, illness, fire/water damage, or a need for emergency housing and food.
If you are in need of assistance, please contact the Financial Aid Office, by emailing uwtfa@uw.edu.
