2024 Paulsen Lecture: Nikole Hannah-Jones

The University of Washington Tacoma is excited to announce the return of the Paulsen Lecture Series this spring with Nikole Hannah-Jones, Pulitzer Prize-winning creator of The 1619 Project.
In this moderated conversation, Nikole Hannah-Jones engages in a powerful discussion of history, race, and democracy that speaks directly to our current moment.
Drawing on ideas from The 1619 Project, she reframes our understanding of American history, highlights the contributions of Black Americans, and illuminates key moments of struggle and resistance. Hannah-Jones explores the legacy of slavery in our cultural, political, and legal institutions, and the way it continues to shape contemporary American life.
You won’t want to miss this profoundly revealing vision of our country’s past, present, and future presented as part of the Arthur R. and Anna Mae Paulsen Endowed Visiting Chair in Public Affairs.
