SIAS Student Advisory Council (SSAC) is a representative body of current SIAS students who help to forward the school’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. SSAC members are appointed by the SIAS Dean each Autumn Quarter for an academic-year term. Effort will be made to ensure representation of the SIAS student body. Candidates may self-nominate or be nominated by an SIAS student, staff, or faculty member.
Purpose
- Advise the dean and school leaders on matters pertaining to students
- Keep SIAS connected and accountable to the general student body
- Serve as a sounding board for school initiatives and ideas
- Promote interdisciplinary school community and identity
- Represent SIAS as ambassadors to promote the school to current and prospective students
Expectations
- Commitment to the mission of SIAS
- Attend one meeting per month during the academic year (Tuesdays/Husky Hour)
- Term is generally for one academic year
- Optional: Opportunities for additional projects and leadership development
