You can make a difference!
Students have returned to campus at UW Tacoma, and they are still navigating challenges from the impacts of COVID-19, as a new variant has emerged. The need for support has never been greater, as the effects of the pandemic, systemic injustices, economic uncertainty, and social unrest have caused the acceleration of a significant increase for student support and financial assistance. You can choose to make a gift that helps transform the lives of students who aspire to become our future business leaders, practicing educators, and change agents addressing critical social problems.
The student body of UW Tacoma includes 57% students of color, with 32% being from underrepresented groups. Students who are underrepresented have been most affected by the challenges that exist. As the pandemic continues, many UW Tacoma students continue to be the mainstay for their families as parents and/or caregivers. We expect that there will always be barriers impacting students beyond the pandemic, such as maintaining housing, paying tuition, and paying for unexpected expenses. Our students continue needing support to persevere toward degree completion. Without support they are faced with the choice of taking care of their families or deferring their educational dreams. All of us at UW Tacoma are urgently trying to prevent these resolute students from having to make such a difficult choice.
Giving Tuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of change and transformation. This year’s campaign kicks off Nov. 26, the day after Thanksgiving, and runs through Giving Tuesday, Nov. 30. We ask you to mark those five days on your calendar. Then, keeping in mind the paramount social, health and economic challenges facing so many, we invite you to give as generously as you can.
