REMINDER – TITLE IX TRAINING FOR ALL NEW EMPLOYEES
Husky Prevention & Response is a foundational, required online prevention and response course about sex- and gender-based violence and harassment for staff, faculty, other academic personnel, and student employees. New employees are required to complete the Husky Prevention & Response course within 30 days of hire. Student employees will need to complete the employee course in addition to the student course, as the courses have unique information relevant to those respective roles.
REMINDER – HOLIDAY TIME
If you haven’t already done so, remember to use or donate your personal holiday before December 31, 2022, so you don’t lose it. This is also a good time to enter Holiday Taken Time Off in Workday for the upcoming calendar year. In Workday, all UW holidays must be recorded by the employee as Holiday Taken Time Off – this applies to employees who accrue time off and would normally work the day on which a holiday falls. Please see the Workday Quick Guide for Holiday Taken Time Off for assistance.

Milgard Hall Project Team Strikes “Collaborative Culture Gold”
On November 3, 2022, the Milgard Hall project team was featured at the Design Build Institute of America 2022 National Conference on the team’s successful effort to nurture a collaborative work culture. The project team, consisting of Andersen Construction, Architecture Research Office (ARO), UW Tacoma’s project delivery team, and a multitude of contractors and subcontractors intentionally molded and maintained a collaborative culture to drive project success. Tools and techniques utilized by the team and presented at the conference included comprehensive onboarding, risk and contingency analysis, fluid virtual and co-location strategies, and psychological safety surveys. The result was a seamless (and fun) process to design and construct the newest building on our growing urban-serving campus.
The Ellis Offers New Student-Focused Housing Option
One of the many new apartment buildings on and around the UW Tacoma campus, The Ellis is perched at the top of campus at 1909 S Fawcett Ave, adjacent to the Whitney Building. The Ellis came on-line in October 2022, offering studio, one-bedroom and loft units, each equipped with a full kitchen, in-unit laundry, and unit-specific heating and air conditioning. The building was designed specifically with the needs of UW Tacoma students in mind and will be an important campus housing option moving forward.
