Students get paid internships with government offices, political campaigns, legal offices and non-profit organizations through a program of the Politics, Philosophy & Economics program.
Each year, UW Tacoma awards scholarships to seven transfer students from the region's community colleges. The scholarship was created in 1998 through the generosity of 30 donors.
Dr. Michael Honey, Haley Professor of Humanities at UW Tacoma, will record an oral history project on John Handcox, "an important but little-known figure in African American and labor history."
The Environmental Program in the School of Interdisciplinary Arts & Sciences was recognized by Pierce Conservation District with a 2010 Stream Team Group of the Year award.
