Hello! My name is Katie Juarez Rodriguez and I am a first generation college student majoring in Business Management. I will be participating in the European Summer School program in Bielefeld, Germany. As someone who grew up low income, I did not think I would ever be able to study abroad. I am so thankful that UWT offers scholarships and other resources that help students like me be able to participate in this program. I am looking forward to learning new things while also exploring and embracing a new culture.
Coral Sky

Hello All! My name is Coral Sky. During the Summer quarter, I will participate in the Prague: Psychology of Culture and Food in the Czech Republic program. Initially, I did not believe study abroad would be plausible based on the monetary aspects. Nevertheless, the scholarships granted to me made my dreams of studying in another country a reality. As a Black female student, I have made it my mission to use all the tools provided to me to become a more culturally conscious and understanding human being. This opportunity to study in Prague is indispensable to my academic and professional careers. The ability to understand cultures that differ from mine will add context to the work I will complete throughout graduate school. In addition, my wish to be a fierce advocate for all historically silenced voices can not come to fruition without forging trusting relatinships with those who may not look or think similarly to me. The addition of marginalized voices adds the necessary color to an otherwise monochromatic story.
Abdul Sinyan

My name is Abdul. I am a senior studying Business Administration in UWT. I am an African American who loves to learn and explore new things. In this year of 2024, I decided to take a huge opportunity to be part of students who will be studding abroad for psychology of culture and food in the Czech Republic. I learned a lot of different great ideas or experiences from students who took advantages to study abroad through the UWT. The experiences from students before me really convince me to want to see and learned the different experience working with different people abroad, and this would develop my skills in working with different diverse people. The best resources I find very helpful finding all my answers about study abroad is through the UWT Study Abroad Instagram and YouTube channel.
Parker McAfee

My name is Parker, and I'm participating in the Peru Spanish immersion trip for Summer 2024. I am a transgender and autistic student excited to embrace the language and culture of Peru over the summer. I've lived in areas where I did not belong throughout my life and felt unwanted, but I never had the chance to travel. That is why I am a Psychology major specializing in mental health services and clinical psychology. I am excited to see how aspects such as cultural norms and the structure of the Spanish language impact the realms within my field outside of an American context.
