Applied Project Showcase
Has your company considered applying smart business analytics solutions to solve existing business problems or cultivating new opportunities to improve performance? Do you want to apply descriptive, predictive, prescriptive, or cognitive analytics, and a few smart cognitive apps that have been developed as a result of our students’ fresh, out-of-the-box thinking, creativity, and hard work?
The Center for Business Analytics (CBA) at the Milgard School of Business hosts the Student-as-Adaptive Innovators - Applied Project Showcase at the completion of each academic year. Our Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) students utilize advanced strategic thinking, operational excellence, complex problem-solving, creativity, and teamwork skills to tackle organizational challenges by co-creating value-added services over our twelve-month program. The culmination of students’ hard work is showcased through live demo/poster-style sessions open to public viewing. Each team is represented and able to discuss the analytics methodology followed to co-create the digital solution, specifically highlighting the tools and techniques they used to discover, plan, develop and deploy their working prototype analytics solutions.
In the last 6 years, students have worked with a diverse range of industry partners including: Boeing, CHI Franciscan Health, City of Tacoma, Columbia Bank, Communities in Schools of Tacoma, Costco Wholesale, Data Central US Corp., Delta Airlines, EDB of Tacoma, Harbor Wholesale Foods, IBM, Metro Parks of Tacoma, Metropolitan Appliance, Microsoft, Regional Healthcare Organization, Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Keyport WA, Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium, Providence St. Joseph Health, Sound Credit Union, South Sound Military & Communities Partnership, Stellar Industrial Supply, Tacoma Power, Tacoma Public Schools, TCS World Travel, Turnover Intelligence, WA State Department of Natural Resources, Hyundai Capital of America, Greentrike, City of Lynnwood, City of Tacoma Fire Dept., South Tacoma Auto, Schnitzer Steel, UW Tacoma, City of Puyallup, and Korean Women’s Association.
To ensure confidentiality, company-specific information will not be shared. The showcase will specifically highlight methodologies, tools, and techniques students used during their projects.
