I don’t know about you, but having commencement on the near horizon gets me excited! When you work in administration, your role as a collective entity is to provide services in support of our campus mission. There are two components of our mission that F&A employees really home in on daily and that is, 1) to partner and collaborate for common good and, 2) to catalyze the economic and social vitality of the region. We expend significant energy and focus both internally and externally in both areas to support our campus.

When we achieve success, it is because of the tremendous employees that we have. During the week of 2-6 May, the nation celebrates Public Employee Recognition. I think we ought to be celebrating it on a daily basis. In fact, I'd like to simply recognize those that have hit their service anniversary so far in 2022. Thanks for all that you do. A special shout out to Keith Ward who is retiring after 35 years of service. Thank you for your dedication and duty to this campus community.

Our revenue shortfall continues and we need all hands-on deck to:

  1. Hold down spending
  2. Utilize the precious resources we have wisely
  3. Be innovative and creative with those resources
  4. Focus on mission critical needs vice conveniences
  5. Lend focus to performance management

Those efforts will serve us well.

Milgard Hall construction continues and we are on track for activating the learning space in January 2023 which is exciting.

As many of you have seen via recent announcements, I have to put my family first and have made the incredibly difficult decision to step down in my role as your VCFA here at UW Tacoma. I will miss this campus, its mission, and its people, especially those that I’ve really gotten to know well in my short time here.

Here in F&A we continue to ask ourselves are we doing the right things, are we doing things right, and what are we missing when it comes to supporting this campus.
