Can I enroll in a single course and not a whole certificate?
Yes! Most of our programs offer open enrollment in individual courses. If you want to enroll one course at a time, take a standalone course, or pursue the entire certificate, we are here to support your path to learning.
How much do your programs cost?
Fees and tuition are not the same for every program; specific program prices are posted on their respective webpages. The university’s tuition exemption policies for staff, state employees and other qualified individuals do not apply to non-credit PDC programs.
How do I pay for my program?
You can pay online with a credit card or ACH at the time of registration. We accept checks or money orders made out to UW Tacoma; please contact us to register with a check or money order. If an employer or other third-party will be paying but require an invoice, billing documents (ex. purchase order, voucher, etc.) are required. Please see How to Register with a Third-Party Payment.
How do I get Enrollment and Completion Records?
Current or former students can request an official Enrollment and Completion Record (ECR) online. There is a $10 fee for official copies. Unofficial copies are available at no cost via your student account for courses completed after July 2020 or by emailing uwtpdc@uw.edu for courses completed prior to July 2020.
Reprints of Certificates of Completion can be requested online as well. There is a $10 fee for a reprint.
What is a CEU?
A CEU is a Continuing Education Unit. It is a unit of credit equal to 10 hours of participation in an accredited program designed for professionals. (1 hour of class = .1 CEU)
Will I need to purchase textbooks?
Most classes require textbooks and assessment tools; these are listed on the program page on the website. Textbooks ARE NOT available in the UW Bookstore and must be purchased ONLINE through your choice of commercial vendors. This will save you time as they will deliver to your home and money as often commercial vendors offer discounts. Some vendors offer book rentals for textbooks that apply if you decide to keep the book.
