The Student Safety Group was created on the notion of having a student perspective and approach to engaging UWT students with their safety concerns. We live in a growing city, campus, and world that is consistently getting harder to navigate. The Student Safety group is here to help make all UWT students feel connected to on campus safety resources, and to act as a liaison to safety programs. We want our fellow students to feel safe and comfortable while they are pursuing higher education.
How do we define Student Safety?
Student Safety can be described as the feeling of freedom to pursue education without fear or anxiety. Although it’s impossible to live in a world without both fear and anxiety, student safety programs and efforts can help to reduce those feelings. We seek to offer campus safety and other on campus resources with valuable feedback to ensure that their efforts are efficacious.
Our Mission
We, the chosen students of the Student Safety group believe that students deserve to be here without fear. To ensure our belief we are:
Working with campus administration to explore late night transportation options for students on campus.
Tracking the flow of funds from student oriented programs and fees to ensure that student fees are being spent mindfully.
Furthering our event planning to include on campus collaborations to fully and well inform students about the resources that they are afforded.
Group Updates
Group Status: Active
October Update:
We are currently researching on campus resources as well as planning for new and improved resources. We want students to fully understand their current benefits as UWT students, and we are actively working on a survey that will be sent out soon. To ensure that we remain efficient and tactful, we are constantly reminding ourselves of the lived on campus experiences of our peers
