Course Substitution Petition: Global Honors & Minor in Global Engagement

The Minor in Global Engagement (25-28 credits), Global Honors Distinction (17-23 credits), Global Leadership pathway (13-16 credits), and Global Citizenship pathway (8-11 credits) require the completion of specific Global Honors introductory, core, and capstone courses. This form may be used to request a substitute for a required Global Honors course under the following circumstances:

• Completion of the Global Honors course in question presents unavoidable scheduling conflicts and an approved non-Global Honors course with comparable content has been or will be taken in its place (typically applies to core courses only, but may apply to introductory or capstone courses under exceptional circumstances).
• Participation in Study Abroad presents unavoidable scheduling conflicts and an approved component of the study abroad course(s) in question has been or will be taken in lieu of a particular Global Honors course (applies to core courses only).

Please note the following limitations to this provision:

• Only one course substitution may be made (i.e. it is not possible to substitute more than one Global Honors course requirement).
• For all pathways, successful completion must include at least one Global Honors core course.
• Only courses graded numerically or experiential learning/study abroad courses graded as ‘CR’ will be considered for a Global Honors course substitution.
• Courses graded numerically must be completed with a grade of 3.3, or higher.
• It is typically not possible for students completing the Global Citizenship pathway to request any course substitutions.
