Community engagement and experiential learning are at the heart of the Institute for Innovation and Global Engagement (IIGE), enriching student's understanding of real world dynamics. The IIGE Student Engagement Program (SEP) opens up classroom learning through a combination of site visits, attendance at IIGE Distinguished Speaker Series, and the establishment of professional network contacts. We welcome active membership in the IIGE's Community Advisory Board and its growing network of business and community leaders committed to collaborating for our shared future.
The purpose of SEP site visits is to bring students into environments where they can understand the complexities of decision-making, entrepreneurship, and innovation, to name just a few processes that orient them to the flexibility, adaptability, and lateral thinking they need to be successful in an interdependent world. By meeting with executives and professionals from a variety of fields at globally-connected companies, students can explore career options, develop professional contacts, and make critical connections between honors coursework and the world outside their classrooms.
Site visits and other SEP activities are arranged and announced on a quarterly basis. Please email IIGE Program Coordinator Alexis Wheeler (wheela@uw.edu) for more information.(add accordians of examples of previous visits, let's look at stylisitic features for this to make it a little more visually pleasing)
