The Summer 2025 aid application will be available April 1st, 2025, on your MyUW Financial Aid Status page.

The 2025-2026 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) is required to determine your eligibility for summer quarter aid. Normal processing time for summer quarter aid can take up to eight weeks, depending upon when you submitted your FAFSA or WASFA and if additional information is needed to evaluate your eligibility.  Awards for summer aid are typically awarded in early/mid June. You will receive a notification in your MyUW account once your award is ready to review.

Summer quarter is the first quarter of the University of Washington's academic year (i.e. Summer Quarter is the first quarter of the 2025-2026 school year). 

How to Apply

  1. Log into your MyUW and locate your Financial Aid Status page.
  2. Select the 2025-2026 academic year to be awarded for summer 2025. The application will not be in 2024-2025 academic year.
  3. Click on Apply for Summer Aid in the left menu of the page.
  4. Review the information provided and click “Apply”.
  5. Answer the questions and click “Submit”.

Please Submit the Summer Aid Application by May 15th, 2025 for priority processing.

Minimum enrollment requirement

The full-time and part-time enrollment requirements for summer quarter are the same as for any quarter in the academic year.  To review enrollment requirements, please refer to Disbursements. Correspondence courses do not count toward the minimum enrollment requirement and visiting students (summer only attendees) and other non-matriculated students are not eligible for financial aid during summer quarter. 
 

Summer quarter aid programs

Most, but not all, financial aid programs are available during the summer quarter.  Our office will determine if you are eligible to receive additional financial aid funds. Your aid will disburse based on your quarterly enrollment. You must let us know if you plan to enroll in less than 12 credits in a specific quarter.
 

Summer satisfactory academic progress requirement

If you are a current student continuing into the summer quarter, you must meet satisfactory academic progress requirements for the prior year to receive aid.  For example, if you do not complete the required number of credits for the 2024-25 academic year by the end of spring quarter 2025, then your eligibility for financial aid will be suspended and we will stop processing your aid, therefore summer quarter 2025 aid will not be disbursed for you.
 

Summer refund and repayment policy

If you receive financial aid for summer quarter and withdraw from all of your classes during the federal refund period (the first 60% of your enrollment period), financial aid will be returned to the aid programs you received funds from.  The amount of your financial aid that must be returned is based on the proportion of the quarter that was not completed.  For example, if you withdraw with 80% of the quarter remaining then 80% of your financial aid funds must be returned to the programs from which they were disbursed.  In addition, you may owe immediate repayment of financial aid that you received (except federal direct loans that are payable according to the terms of the promissory note).  The amount of financial aid that you must immediately repay depends on the amount of university fees as well as the types and amounts of financial aid available to you.  For additional information, please see Withdrawal and refund.
