Raffles are activities in which a group sells tickets that are entered in a game of chance for prizes. Raffles are strictly regulated in the state of Washington under the Washington State Gambling Act. Only certain charitable or nonprofit organizations can conduct raffles without first obtaining a gambling license. Organizations may conduct raffles on campus only if the organization qualifies and its proposed raffle follows specified requirements.
Please note that the raffle rules only apply if tickets are being sold. If an RSO is giving away the tickets that will result in prizes, this is not a raffle, and the name "Equal Opportunity Giveaway" should be used.
To conduct a raffle on campus, RSOs must complete an RSO Fundraising Form and be able to demonstrate that they have either obtained a gambling license or meet the state-sanctioned exceptions. It's recommended that officers reach out to uwtclubs@uw.edu describing the event and

University fundraising policy applies whenever an RSO collects money or items on campus. This includes donations, the sale of items or food, or the charging of an admission or registration fee.
