All PPPA students have the option of graduating with honors in their major. Graduating with honors is especially recommended for students aspiring to attend graduate school. For more information on this option, please speak with your advisor. Here are the requirements for each of the majors:
For Honors in Law & Policy or Politics, Philosophy, & Economics (PP&E):
- Meet all program and major graduation requirements.
- Take TWRT 211 Argument and Research in Writing and earn at least a 3.0 GPA in the class.
- Take an additional (second) capstone class, TPOL S 480 or TPOL S 496, and earn at least a 3.5 GPA in the class.
- Submit an application to the SIAS office:
- Law & Policy Honors Designation application
- PP&E Honors Designation application - Maintain a cumulative UW Tacoma GPA of 3.5 or above at the time of graduation.
For Honors in Economics and Policy Analysis:
Students must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, and supplement the major requirements with the following three courses (with an average GPA of at least 3.0 for the three):
- TBECON 420 Intermediate Microeconomic Theory
- TBECON 421 Intermediate Macroeconomic Theory
- TBECON 422 Econometrics or TMATH 410 Regression Modeling with Applications
- Submit an application to the SIAS Office.
