The University and its Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Equity and Inclusion wholeheartedly welcomes, values, and embraces the presence of every student, regardless of their citizenship or immigration status. Our commitment includes a responsibility to the Washington State Legislature’s Keep Washington Working Act (2019, SB 5497) which supports the following practices:
- Evaluate applications for admission using the same procedures and requirements that are in place for first-year or transfer admission for U.S. citizens.
- Provide equal access to financial aid and campus employment for undocumented students studying in the U.S. under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) policy.
- Facilitate access to legal counsel through the University's Student Legal Services.
- Provide leadership opportunities and a sense of belonging through engagement with activities from the Center for Equity and Inclusion and with registered student organizations (RSOs), such as UWT Monarchs, which are accessible to students through DubNet.
- Offer assistance with college navigation, including academic success and community building, with staff and faculty trained as undocu-allies through the UW Seattle office of Leadership Without Borders.
In this moment, a lot remains uncertain as it relates to the future of U.S. immigration policy, but what is clear is UW Tacoma’s unwavering commitment and support for our undocumented students and the communities to which they belong. Undocumented students, DREAMers (DACA recipients), students with mixed-status families, and undocu- allies are vital members of our campus community. Immigrant Student Support and Advocacy
Through the UW Tacoma Office of Equity and Inclusion, undocumented students, DACA recipients, students from mixed-status families and undocu-allies, can seek academic and social support from peer mentors and meet with an advocacy coordinator to help navigate the university system. Fellowships & Scholarships for Undocumented Students
Through the Office of Global Affairs on the University of Washington Tacoma campus, you can find support on finding fellowships or scholarships for undocumented or DACAmented students. Reach out for help with selecting a fellowship that matches your interests and goals, for tips and advice, and application feedback by emailing tscholar@uw.edu.
UW Seattle Leadership Without Borders (LWB)
LWB is devoted to offering resources, support and guidance and works to serve and empower undocumented students at the University of Washington. LWB is available for students at the University of Washington Tacoma.

Admissions
UW Tacoma welcomes undocumented students. Our Admissions team is committed to supporting undocumented students through the application process and to accessing the resources available to help you pursue higher education.
Financial Aid
Financial aid, through state and institutional funds, may be available to students who are not eligible for federal aid because of immigration status. Find out more about available funding opportunities.
First Generation Support
First Generation Initiatives designs First Gen programs and services to support students who will be the first in their family to graduate from a 4-year college in the United States, including students who identify as undocumented or DACAmented.
Huskies Care Resource Center
For a list of resources available, type “undocumented” into the search bar of the resource center and then click on Undocumented Students Resources or Citizen Status.
Psychological & Wellness Services (PAWS)
PAWS provides confidential mental health counseling and related services for currently enrolled UW Tacoma students at no additional costs. PAWS also provides consultation to faculty, staff, and university student families.
Career Development & Education
