Summer Social Justice Internship
The Summer Social Justice Internship is a program that offers a $4,000. stipend to students to practice turning passion into action. You can apply practical work skills and gain leadership experience in a nonprofit setting, while contributing to real-world solutions for a more just future.
- All UW Tacoma students are encouraged to apply which includes an interview process.
- Space is limited. Students will be selected by the Office of Equity Inclusion staff and each nonprofit representative based on merit and career alignment with the mission and goals of our community partners.
- Participation includes an orientation and a commitment 200 hours over 6 weeks at the site location and attending UW Tacoma workshops about how to engage in critical community service with cultural humility and an equity lens.
- OEI staff share on-boarding and supervisory responsibilities with participating nonprofits over the summer.
- Our successful collaborations will culminate in a showcase to highlight impact and learning outcomes.

Community Service
Each intern will commit to serving 30 hours a week, interning at their site, participating in biweekly one-on-ones, and weekly 2-hour group sessions.

Skillset Development
Earn valuable experience while making a positive impact! Tasks include data entry, curriculum development, and event planning and more.

Career Preparation
Develop essential skills for a career in social justice or non-profit work. Gain communication, empathy, and a deeper understanding of social justice issues.
