Umoja
Umoja, one of the seven principles of Kwanza, is a Kiswahili word meaning unity. The Umoja Celebration is our time to gather, rejoice in our collective accomplishments, reflect on our experiences, and recommit ourselves to our ancestors, friends, family and community.
Center for Equity & Inclusion's Umoja Celebration is an opportunity to recognize the diverse student populations graduating from the University of Washington Tacoma. While this celebration is open to all graduating students we highly encourage our students from non-traditional backgrounds, but not limited to our students of color, LGBTQ students, first-generation, adult students, graduate students, indigenous, veterans, disabled, formerly incarcerated, undocumented, DACAmented and more.
