Street Parking (pay in Flowbird)

Street parking on and around the UW Tacoma campus is managed by the City of Tacoma (shown on map in shades of gold)

  • Parking fees for City-managed locations must be paid in the Flowbird app
    • You will receive a parking citation if you pay for your parking in the wrong app

 

  • Fees and time limits vary by street - make sure to check the signs before you leave your vehicle!
    • Uphill from Market Street: Free parking with 3-hour limit
    • Market street: Free parking with 90-minute limit
    • Downhill from Market: Paid parking with 90-minute limit

On-Campus Lots (pay with Pay By Phone)

Parking lots on campus are managed in-house here at UW Tacoma Transportation Services. All hourly parking fees for on-campus parking are paid through the Pay By Phone app.

*Court 17 Garage requires your Husky Card for access. Students who are not Court 17 residents only have access with their Husky Card until 10 pm on Mondays through Thursdays and 5 pm on Fridays.

Parking Permits

Parking Permit basics

  • A parking permit allows you to park in a specific lot on campus
  • Days and times you can park vary depending on the permit option you purchase
  • A permit does not guarantee there will be a stall available

Purchasing

  • Parking permits go on sale one week before the first day of the academic quarter
  • Self-purchased through the Parking Portal
  • Sales are first come-first served, limit ONE permit per customer

What if permits sell out?

  • If a permit option is not available on the Portal, it is currently sold out
  • Permits may come back in stock if they are canceled/returned, so check back

How does the wait list work?

  • We will review occupancy rates for all parking lots after two weeks from start of the quarter
  • We may issue additional permits if we determine that it would not cause overcrowding
  • These permits will be offered to customers on the wait list, if they become available

What are the different permit options?

When you log in to the Portal with your Net ID, you will automatically be shown the options that are available to you.

 

Park + U-PASS

Most students and staff automatically have U-PASS benefits (eligibility information is on our U-PASS page), which cover your fare on many local public transit options. With your U-PASS, you use a free parking option and then take the light rail or bus to campus.
