Resident parking permit rules
- Court 17 Residents who want to park a vehicle on campus MUST purchase a Resident Parking Permit. Residents are not eligible for any other permit type.
- A resident permit allows you to park 1 vehicle in the parking garage 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
- You may add a second alternate vehicle to your permit, but both vehicles may not be parked in the garage at the same time
- A valid, mounted license plate must be visible at all times - do not back in to a stall if you do not have a proper front license plate
- The $342 quarterly fee will be charged to your student account with your tuition and housing charges each quarter
- Parking permits do NOT provide free charging at the EV charging stations. Please see this page for charging rates.
Please note: Vehicle maintenance work and repairs are not allowed in any UW Tacoma parking garage or lot. If you need a place to change your oil or do some repair work, check out Self-Serve Garage at 6239 S Adams St in Tacoma
How to purchase a resident parking permit
Residents can request a permit when registering for student housing prior to the start of the academic year. After move-in, permits can be requested using our new webform:
Transportation Services will send you an email confirmation once your permit is set up. If you receive any citations for not having a permit once this has been done, PLEASE LET US KNOW ASAP and make sure you double-check that you provided the correct license plate number!
- The parking permit fee will be charged to your student account quarterly (2024-2025 cost is $342 per quarter)
- Resident permits expire in mid-September, OR upon move-out
How to view or manage your parking permit
Once your permit is issued, you can view and manage it just like any other UWT Parking Permit - in our Online Parking Portal. See this page for guidance on navigating the portal. The Portal allows you to change the vehicles associated with your permit, review your permit details (such as start and end dates), as well as view, pay or appeal parking citations.
