Bike Routes
Use the Tacoma Bikeways map to locate bike-friendly routes through Tacoma.
Bike Storage
There are several options for storing your bike while on campus:
Bike Racks
Bike racks are located outside the main entrance of most UW Tacoma buildings, as well as along Pacific Avenue. Specific locations are marked on our Bike Map.
Bike Storage Room - Court 17 Garage
Our secure bike storage room is located on the ground floor of the Court 17 garage. The storage room is free to use for all UW Tacoma students and employees. Send an email to transit@uw.edu to request access.
Commuter Bathrooms w/ Showers
The UW Tacoma campus has eight commuter bathrooms. These are single-user bathrooms with a full shower and plenty of space for changing.

Bike Security Tips
Transportation Services and the UW Tacoma Campus Safety team work together on bike security. You can help by following these best practices:
- Lock your bike with a U-Lock or other heavy-duty lock, not a flexible cable lock alone. Any lock can be defeated, but bikes locked with a cable lock alone are more likely to be stolen. Secure the lock through at least one wheel and the frame.
- Register your bike with the National Bike Theft Registry — it only takes a few minutes!
- Remove lights and accessories that have a quick-release feature each time you park.
- Report suspicious activity and stolen bikes to Campus Safety at 253-692-4416.
Taking Your Bike on Transit
Combining your bike commute with a bus ride can be a great daily option or a back-up plan in case weather or weariness makes riding home less than enjoyable.
All Pierce Transit buses are equipped with bike racks. If the rack is full, bikes may be brought aboard Pierce Transit buses — but not Sound Transit buses (for Sound Transit's bike policy go here). Cyclists are responsible for handling and assuring the security of their bikes. Pierce Transit assumes no responsibility for bikes stolen or damaged while parked at a rack or locker.
The Tacoma Link Light Rail will also accept bicycles.
