Traffic Advisories
Traffic disruptions on S 21st Street
The City of Tacoma is performing work on sewer system upgrades at S 21st Street and S. C Street starting February 3, 2025 and expected to last 4-6 weeks. Transportation Services is working with the City of Tacoma to reduce impacts to campus as much as possible, but significant traffic disruptions are expected.
CAMPUS IMPACTS
- Pedestrian crossing at 21st & C Street will be closed for the duration of the work. Pedestrians must cross at Jefferson or Pacific Avenues.
- Vehicle traffic on 21st Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction. At some points during the work, 21st Street will be closed entirely between Commerce and Jefferson.
- Parking along Dolly Roberson Lane and C Street will be limited to allow for two-way traffic flow.
- Access between 21st Street and C Street will be closed during construction.
We recommend you avoid this area and use other routes around campus when possible.
During this time, vehicle access on Dolly Roberson Lane and S. C Street will be limited and the street will not be able to accommodate large vehicles (such as semi-trucks). Access from 21st to Roberson Lane will be closed for the project's first 3-4 weeks. Access from 21st to C Street will be closed for the project's second 3-4 weeks (approx. March 2025).
If you are expecting any large deliveries that may be impacted by this work, please notify us at transit@uw.edu so that we can coordinate with City staff.
